As a systemic therapist, I play an active and collaborative role in helping my clients recognize their own inherent strengths and actualize their goals toward personal growth and healing in all aspects of their lives. By navigating your experiences together and at your own pace, I believe we can create a safe and non-judgmental space for long-lasting, even if incremental change. In my work with teen and adult individuals and couples, I support and encourage my clients by using a client-centered and strengths-based approach. More specifically, I utilize a balance of both solution-focused and emotionally-focused therapy as well as elements of internal family systems and strategic therapy techniques in the treatment room. Clients can expect from me to be open, authentic, and nurturing in our interactions, which I find allows me to build trust and a solid rapport in our therapeutic relationship. Once this rapport is established, I then begin incorporating a more directive and gently challenging position in therapy to motivate my clients in facilitating the changes we have been brainstorming in our sessions in their everyday lives. Some of my areas of interest include: anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management, grief, identity development, self-esteem, OCD, LGBTQIA+ issues, racial/ethnic identity concerns, relationship issues, sex therapy, infidelity, open relationships/ethical non-monogamy/polyamory, men’s issues, and toxic masculinity. Additionally, as a gay, Filipino-American cis-gender man, I am committed to serving diverse individuals in the community through a socially just and culturally informed lens.
